A new school year is upon us and all of the staff at Monck Public School are looking forward to another great year of learning.
Here is some important information for families as they prepare for the school year:
- School office is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm starting on Monday, August 26th
- Families / students will receive a message via e-mail or phone informing them of who their teacher will be for the 2019 / 2020 school year by the end of the day on Thursday, August 29th
- Kindergarten Year 1 students have received a letter from their child’s teacher informing them of the entry to school plan for their child
The start of a new school year brings with it lots of excitement and anticipation. It is important that students are rested and prepared for the school year right from the first day. The first day of school is on Tuesday, September 3rd. Students will meet their teacher on the school yard. Kindergarten students will assemble in the kindergarten yard where they will meet their teacher and DECE. Students from grades 1 to 8 will meet on the school yard. Primary division (grades 1 to 3), junior division (grades 4 to 6) and intermediate division (grades 7 & 8) will assemble together and then get organized in class groupings. If you are new to Monck PS and do not recognize your teacher, school administration and non-homeroom teachers will be on the schoolyard send you in the right direction. Students should not enter the school before meeting with their teacher.
It is common for students to have some excitement and nervousness when starting a new school year. There will be many changes to their school experience from the previous year, including a new grade, new teacher, new room, new classmates, etc. School staff spend a great deal of time in the spring planning classrooms for this school year. It is very difficult to move students to different classes at this time of the school year, therefore we request that you do not approach the school to make classroom change requests. It is important to allow your child to settle into their new classroom and school culture and embrace the school year as an opportunity for growth and learning.
We are all looking forward to an exciting school year in 2019/2020.
