Week #1 Update

Week 1 of the 2020/2021 school year is now behind us.  I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for all of the patience, cooperation, and understanding demonstrated by students, families, and staff as we have all adjusted to the new routines, rules, and expectations placed upon us this school year.  We will continue to bring more students to school each day next week with the goal of having all students in full attendance by Friday, September 18th.  I am confident that we can all successfully adjust to the new school routines we have all learned this week.

Here is information and important reminders for students and parents to help going forward:

Daily Health Assessment

An important reminder to all families to ensure you are completing the Daily Health Assessment each day before sending your children to school.  You can quickly and easily find the Assessment by visiting our school website (https://mon.tldsb.on.ca) and a window will automatically pop-up with a link to the Daily Health Assessment.  This is available from both a computer and a mobile device.

Drop Off/Pick Up

If you are driving your children to and from school each day, please remember to use the identified ‘pick-up/drop-off’ zones at school.  The zones are marked by large red flags. The zone for students in Kindergarten is at the front of the school and the zone for students in Grades 1 to 8 is along the side of the school parallel to Salmon Avenue.  We are anticipating twice the number of vehicles entering our parking lot before and after school and want to try and minimize traffic congestion.  We ask that you do not park your vehicle but simply stop in the driveway to allow your children to exit/enter the vehicle and then proceed on your way.  Your cooperation is appreciated.

Safe Arrival

A reminder to parents that it is extra important this year to call Safe Arrival if your child will not be at school and leave a message with the reason and some details about your child’s absence, especially if it is related to illness.  If you know your child will be away from school for an appointment, etc., please call and leave a message at the school office so attendance can be tracked.

Monck PS also has a new phone system this year.  As a result, our Safe Arrival Line is no longer in service  Please call the regular school phone number (705-645-9986) and select Option #3 for Safe Arrival.

A reminder to students to return all computer technology that was borrowed from school last spring.  If you borrowed a computer device from school (except for student Edwin devices) for the [email protected] Program last spring, please return it to school next week.
